The Ladies Philoptochos Society/BAHA Chapter 1088

No one is too young or too old to be a part of this special group of women – “The Ladies Philoptochos Society”. Philoptochos is an army of women whose collective drive, dedication, and heart help those who need it most. Philoptochos is YOU! We are always looking for and welcome new skills, experiences, ideas, and personalities. Be a part of a philanthropic movement. Join today and make new friends, share experiences, knowledge, and laughter.

If you are not yet a member of Philoptochos, please come join us at our next meeting to see what we are all about. Hopefully you will like what we are doing and will want to become a member. Either way, we will be pleased with your presence.

Committees

Visitation Committee

Join a great team of people who visit individuals from our community who are homebound, recuperating in a hospital or living in a Nursing home. The visit may include a delivery of something from the church, such as Anditheron {bread offered by the priest at dismissal}, Holy Water, Palms, Vasilopita, Artos, the church newsletter, a Greek Newspaper, or just a friendly smile and a caring word. Your visit will warm someone’s heart and bring them great joy.

Drives Committee

Join the committee that coordinated drives for specific items throughout the year. This committee often coordinates its drives with the Girl Scouts or GOYA. We have had Coat Drives for the Bridges Program, Toy Drives for St. Basil Academy, Food Drives for the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean County and household items for the Ronald McDonald House.  Join the Drives Committee and help provide for those in great need.

Fashion Show Committee

Join the dynamic and innovative women who put the VA-VA-VA-VOOM in our Annual Fashion Show with GLITZ, GLAMOUR AND GRANDEUR.  They turn any runway into a Hollywood red carpet. It’s exciting, it’s fun and the proceeds benefit many local charities.

College Connection

This is a support group that maintains a link with students from our community during their college years. It keeps college students informed of Kimisis news, happenings and events and reaches out to them while they are away. The committee arranges a College student blessing in August, showcases their accomplishments, informs them of scholarships and job opportunities.
